My Nexus Design Studio Story
September 22nd, 2014 / Alese Oldenburg
Hi everyone! My name is Cassie, and I am the Public Relations Coordinator here at Diamond Nexus. Today, I am so excited to tell you all about my own Nexus Design Studio experience.
So let’s bring it back to 2013 when I got engaged. My now husband proposed with a beautiful mined diamond ring (I know, I know… But I wasn’t working here yet and had NO IDEA about the insane benefits of created diamonds). Anyway, the ring he asked me with was the perfect ring for me, a radiant center stone with a halo and low profile. To be honest, I would have said yes to a ring pop I was so in love! But, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect engagement ring.
As the big day got closer, we started to look at wedding bands. First of all, there was not a matching band to go along with my ring, so we had countless, confusing options. Now my ring is a very unique build. The way the prongs are set to support the center stone made it so NO band could easily fit underneath to hug against the engagement ring band. Every store I went to said I would HAVE to do a stand alone band- that nothing else would work. Well, I’m one of those annoying girls that when I make up my mind, I find a way to get what I want!
Finally the idea of a custom band came in to play. All the stores I spoke to, including the store where my ring came from, gave me outrageous quotes for a custom band…$1500-$5000 (Both my fella and I are post-grads out of college…our ring budget couldn’t exactly be our meal budget for the year…) To top it off, they would tell me the band would need to be all 14K white gold, with no stones, or they could add really small stones to the sides… but to match the original band would be impossible. I was NOT happy.
Thankfully, I got hired for my dream job at Diamond Nexus. I was able to learn all about the amazing benefits of created diamonds- conflict free, better for the environment, and MUCH better for our budget. Best of all, I was introduced to the Nexus Design Studio. I knew I had to ask them their opinion about my wedding band, and they were such a blessing! They walked me through how the process works, how much time I should allow to make it happen, and what my pricing options were. They were so patient with me when I had to make decisions, and asked for my approval for every step.
They ended up making more of a crescent type band- where there’s a perfect size cut out that hugs the halo of my center stone flawlessly. When they are put together, no one can tell that the wedding band isn’t actually a full band! What’s even better is that now they are soldered together! There are no gaps, no separating! It looks like one perfect continuous piece. What I love most is that while my engagement ring is made from mined diamonds, my wedding band is made with Nexus Diamonds. They are literally soldered right next to each other for the ultimate side by side comparison, and no one can tell which is which! They both look the EXACT same! The bands are identical. It’s a gorgeous, cohesive look that I wanted from day one! I can not believe I actually considered not even getting a wedding band!
I honestly could not be more amazed with NDS for literally making my vision come to life. I know this probably sounds so cheesy and too good to be true, but I have to be honest for you guys! Going with NDS was the BEST decision we could have made!
