How to Clean Your Jewelry at Home

The whole point of having Nexus Diamond Alternatives™ is that they’re sparkly, right? But hand lotions, natural oils on your skin, hair products and makeup can all make your ring or jewelry look dirty and dull. To keep it bright and shiny, you’ll want to clean it regularly—at least once a month or so.

soap and water
Soap & Water

What you need: A small bowl, warm water and gentle dish soap.

Combine the soap and warm water.
Soak your piece for 20-45 minutes.
Use a very soft (clean!) toothbrush to gently scrub in the nooks and crannies.
Plug your drain, then rinse your piece in clean warm water and let dry.

Jewelry Cleaner

What you need: Non-abrasive cleaner.

Spritz your ring in the solution or let it soak in a small bowl if it is very dirty.
Use a very soft toothbrush to gently scrub all the nooks and crannies.
Rinse under warm running water—don’t forget to plug the drain first!

What to Avoid

Do not use abrasive cleaners like bleach and household cleaners, which can damage the metal.
Toothpaste, which can scratch the metal.
Hard bristle brushes; stick to a very soft bristle brush.

A cleaning brush

You can’t really clean your jewelry too much. If you are hard on your hands, you may want to clean your ring even more often to keep it sparkling. Try cleaning your ring and then post a ring selfie using #DNRingSelfie so we can see your sparkler!
