5 Stunning Marquise Rings

First created in the mid-1700s for King Louis XV, the Marquise cut has long been used in fine jewelry and ring designs. The way this long, elegant shape is cut maximizes the surface area that the eye sees, which can make it seem larger for the carat weight. It is typically set in simpler designs to make the unusual shape the focal point. These are some of our favorites.

Bali Accented Marquise

The accented band on this classic piece laterally balances the visual weight of the Marquise cut stone. It feels very proportional and this gives it a classic vibe, even with the less-common Marquise center stone. From the side, the trellis setting has floral undertones that give a feminine flair to this sturdy ring.

Marseille Marquise

When you do away with prongs in favor of a smooth bezel setting, the shape of the Marquise is the main design influence. A sturdy ring with masculine influences, the elegance of the Marquise shape softens the overall look. Paired with a nesting band, it is transformed.

Infinite Love Marquise

The oblong shape of the Marquise cut center stone is echoed in the band. Faux-marquise accents—created with two small Round accents set within a channel shaped like a Marquise—alternate with Round accents to create a scalloped lace effect. The overall design is cohesive and feminine.

Timeless Marquise

This three stone design has a modern feel that is created by using Triangle cut accent stones. These fit beautifully on either side of the long, narrow Marquise cut, creating an exceptionally balanced, symmetrical design. The four pointed corners and simple basket setting have clean lines that give this piece a timelessness—thus, its name!

East-West Classic Marquise

There’s no rule that states the Marquise stone has to be set vertically. One of our quirky-cool styles sets it horizontally. With such a simple design, this twist on a solitaire stands out. It’s a favorite of style editors for a reason.
